James Wren - Triathlete

Owen Electrical Contracts Ltd are proud to sponsor Mr James Wren who will be representing Great Britain in the Europoean Long-distance Duathlon Championships.

I am a teacher working for Davington Primary School in Faversham, Kent. I have just been selected to represent Great Britain in the European long-distance Duathlon Championships in Horst, Holland this coming April.

I am also hopeful of subsequently being selected for the World Triathlon Championships in Chicago in autumn 2015.

I have worked tirelessly over the previous 6 years of my career to raise money for others.
In 2009 I organised a mini marathon at my school which raised over £4,000 for a selected charity. I am dearly hoping that I can fulfil my own aspirations in a manner in which I have helped others do so.

Being selected for this level of competition, the highest amateur level I can get to, comes without funding of any kind.

I am determined to give something back to the children of Faversham and Herne Bay as a result of my success and to highlight to them the opportunities in taking part in minority sports.

After meetings with the School Sport Partnership I will be running various free open sessions for local primary schools allowing the children to attempt outdoor sports including Triathlon and Duathlon.

I have become so amazed at the sporting opportunities available to both children and adults and feel that so many could be inspired by having a local teacher participating at an international level.
